Vietnam
Today I watched Proposal at the Parkson’s MegaStar Cineplex.  MegaStar is the best cinema in Saigon right now.  The theater is clean, spacious with great sound quality.  The movie was great as well.  It made me homesick since I really miss the mountains.  Next week I plan to see District 9 the...more info>>>

Sunset on the Mekong

5 flag
Cambodia
It's been a while since we've seen a sunset here. After the brief lull in the rains last month, September came storming in with brilliant downpours and the energy-sapping intermittent drizzling all day long. In some provinces south and west of Phnom Penh this made up for the drought. This photo was ...more info>>>

Cambodian spotted gecko

5 flag
Cambodia
This gecko was on our kitchen wall and I was lucky enough to take a photo before it escaped. The geckos here are beautiful - green with red spots. They are larger and different from house lizards, the smaller beige (sometimes black) creatures we find in Singapore and in Cambodia. I love the geckos, ...more info>>>

Down the river to the sea

Japan
A few weeks ago, before the onset of the rainy season and its attendant humidity, I took a little bike ride 20kms down the river to Gotsu. The Gonokawa (Go River) is the longest river in West Japan, and is only 194 kms long. Now tamed by a single dam upstream at Hamahara, it is still a very pleasant ...more info>>>
