Native Americans vs. Uyghurs & Tibetans
|
China |
The similarities are so obvious I’m surprised I don’t see this kind of news article more often. Xinhua, China’s largest news organization and an acknowledged government mouthpiece, ran a short story today about the American Indian tribes in New Mexico and Arizona. Why, you ask? Good question.

Khao Thom from Pakse
|
Laos |
For breakfast I ate khao thom made by Aunt Kiane and the rest of the relatives for the Morning Alms Offering (Giving) after Grand-Mama’s funeral. It is a tradition to give out the left-over to relatives and friends.
I found it comforting and was reminded of the same old tradition from my sist...more info>>>

MP Zulkifri Noordin on cause of tsunami 2004
|
Malaysia |
According to the abnornally obscurant and fairly insolent MP for Kulim Bandar Baru, Zulkifri Noordin, the tsunami that occurred in December 2004 which killed and maimed thousands, including a large number of Muslims in Indonesia, was the work of his "Allah". All records indicate unambiguously that t...more info>>>

More November rain in Vientiane

W’re back to the long adventure of my two months in Laos. I woke up to another day of November rain in Vientiane. Aunt Kiane finally came back from Pakse from Grand-Mama’s funeral at the crack of dawn. It was not too long before the sky started to pour down on us.

Thailand Polo King's Cup 2010

Thailand |
When we talk about horse polo, we usually think of the colonials in places like India. I watched my first polo match in Gilgit in Pakistan about 15 years ago. It was a thrilling game played out on a dusty pitch surrounded on all four sides by enthusiastic locals. For me growing up, I saw it as mai...more info>>>
