Besides Australian Harold Crouch's Government & Society in Malaysia, Canadian Mark Gillen's The Malay Rulers' Loss of Immunity is also an excellent backgrounder for a deeper understanding of the off-and-on political struggles between unelected rulers and their royal courts on one hand, and the c...more info>>>

Checking movie times
|
South Korea |
It's often hard for foreigners in Korea to check movie times. We don't have any newspapers that publish movie info, as far as I've found. Until I discovered these websites, I was always just forced to show up to the theater and hope for the best. If you use Google search to try to find movie theater...more info>>>

Yes, to uninstall CS3 and reinstall the new Adobe Design Premium CS4 version took over five hours from 10am until after 3pm. I even turned off the anti-virus to speed up the process.
Of course, there was another power outage from 8:37am until just after 9am and then the internet ......more info>>>

Fresh coconut juice on a quiet beach
We’re chucked from the bus (in a nice way) with young men hoisting our bags up and over to the sidewalk. We’re left on a beachfront street, empty of motorized vehicles. Empty of most everything except Mr. G, who leads us to his hotel. For about $15 a...more info>>>

I must admit, I’ve lost track of what is going on in Thailand. I’ve been paying more attention to events in Timor-Leste. There are far more interesting things going on than the colors of people’s shirts. I was surprised — actually bemused — to read this on the Bangkok P...more info>>>
