How to be stopped by the Traffic Police in Saigon

10 flag
Vietnam
Yesterday, after I crossed the Saigon Bridge on my way back from An Phu, I saw a Frenchman pulled over by the traffic police. The traffic policeman actually crossed the street to pull a truck over.  As he signaled the truck to stop, the Frenchman rode his Honda Wave in the same lane as the truck.  ...more info>>>

South Korea
I was walking by Doksugung Palace Saturday, and we happened to go by during the changing of the guard ceremony. I've seen it before, and we were sort of in a rush, so we didn't stop to watch, but as I passed by, I saw a tent set up called "Free Traditional Clothes-Wearing Experience". Now, really, w...more info>>>

Driving a car in Manila

8 flag
Philippines
Many years ago I’ve heard that driving in the Philippines and especially in Metro Manila can be compared with driving in hell. There’s even a saying that says: If you can drive a car in Manila, you can drive everywhere in the world. Metro Manila, or National Capital Region as it’s called lately, cou...more info>>>

I love Thailand for its variety but I never knew before that it already has an established wine industry. When we talk about wine growing we don't usually think about Thailand mainly due to the hot and humid climate. But, Thailand has in fact three distinct regions of wine making. In the north there...more info>>>

So, what do you do when you're stuck between seasons and can't find your way out of limbo?Nonsense is my muse and a refuge for a sanity that I believe is not always on the correct side of the loony bin fence. What I'm tryin' ta say here, somewhere between the babble and the brilliance, is that after...more info>>>

Was over the river at the store yesterday and saw this guy come cycling through the village. It is rare we see any foreigners in this part of the world, and rarer still foreigners touring by bicycle, but with full panniers that was obviously what he was doing. I stopped and asked him if he needed an...more info>>>

I just got back from a 4-day resort hopping trip to Hua Hin and surrounding districts. I also did some tweaks on the blog to make it look cleaner to support my new page–the Gallery. I finally extended my US$25 Flickr pro account so I could show the world my newly uploaded 200 shots. Hey, [.....more info>>>
